Harry Potter Chapter 15 Journal

Chapter 15 Journal

When Ronan tells Harry, “the forest holds many secrets,” what do you think he means? What do you think the planets are predicting that causes Firenze to hope they are being read incorrectly?

When Ronan tells Harry, "The forest holds many secerets" I think it means that the planets and star hold many secerets like your future so to let Harry die would be a disaster because maybe Harry is destined for great things. I think the planets are predicting that they are going to die and voldemort is going to kill all innocent mythical animals, like unicorns and Harry Potter. That's why I'm predicting that Firenzo reads the planets incorrectly. I also think that Firenzo might be holding thing from everyone and protect Harry from getting hurt or killed.

Harry Potter chapter 14

Chapter 14 Journal

Hagrid seems to be very attached to Norbert. Consider the description of Hagrid’s behaviour in Chapter 14 and explain what we can learn about Hagrid as a person through his relationship with his pet. Have you ever met anyone who is a “little crazy” over his/her pet?

Hagrid seemed to be attached too much because he is treating the dragon  as  though he is the dragons mommy. He helped it hatch and fed it even though it could burn his house down. No, I have never met anyone who is overly crazy about his or her pet.  Something we can learn from Hagrid as a person and his pet is that we know that some animals are dangerous and should not be pets. They could have some type of disease or might be dangerous in the house depending on what power they have. So we can learn from  Hagrid's mistake what kind of pet would be save to keep.

Harry Potter chapter 13

Chapter 13 Journal

Think about the power of the Philosopher’s Stone and how having one would affect your life. If you were immortal, what would life be like? If you owned an object that could turn metal into gold, how would your life be different? In your journal, identify at least 1 pro and 1 con of owning the Philospher’s Stone

I think having the power of the philosopher stone would be mainly a good thing. If I were immortal and lived forever I could have an awsomely amount of friends. If I owned a object that could turn to gold or money I would be able to survive and have money to live and travel anywhere in the world. I would be able to help people in poor countries and charities in need. One con of owning the philosopher stone would be  there would be people who would be desperate and asking for money and my life  would be in danger from people wanting to steal the philosopher stone.

Chapter Twelve: Summary Paragraph Writing Activity

The Main Idea is that Harry had the most awesome celebration and Christmas dinner in all his life. Firstly, the food was amazing. “A hundred fat, roast turkeys; mountains of roast and boiled potatoes; platters of chipolatas; tureens of buttered peas, silver boats of thick, rich gravy and cranberry sauce -- and stacks of wizard crackers every few feet along the table”.(149)  The dessert was fabulous flaming Christmas puddings with hidden money in the slices. In addition, Harry received the best presents ever. He received, “luminous balloons, a Grow-Your-Own-Warts kit, and his own new wizard chess set.”(150)  Also, Harry had never seen Professor Flitwick and Dumbledore joking around.  Hagrid and Professor McGonagall  having a blast with Hagrid kissing Professor McGonagall on the cheek. In conclusion, the Hogwarts Christmas was Harry’s most wonderful Christmas ever.

Harry Potter chapter 12 Journal

Chapter 12 Journal

If you looked into the Mirror of Erised, what would you see? In your blog, identify and describe your “deepest, most desperate desire.”

If I looked into the Mirror of Erised I would picture myself looking older and having more sibilings and also seeing myself at  collage. I would see myself wearing attractive hair and makeup.

Harry Potter chapter 10

Chapter 10 Journal

By the end of chapter 10, Hermione becomes friends with Harry and Ron. While Hermione can be annoying at times, she also possesses qualities that will make her a good friend and ally for Harry. Identify at least 2 of these qualities and explain how they might help Harry.

Hermione was wise about the magic spellls and knows how to use them.An example of this would be that Hermione recgonized that Snape was jinxing Harry's broom.

Harry potter Chapter 9

Chapter 9 Journal Question:

Who does Harry dislike more: Dudley Dursley or Draco Malfoy? Why? Explain your answer with at least 3 reasons.

Harry dislikes Draco Malfoy because he tricks Harry and he is mean and snobby to him.  Draco Malfoy is in Slytherin house so that house and Gryffindor practice potions and flying lessons together.  Draco Malfoy tricks Harry and tells him to fly on the broomstick when the teacher Madam Hooch tells the rest of the class to stay put.  while she takes Neville to the Hospital.  Harry ends up getting in trouble from Professor McGonagall and tells Harry that he is almost expelled from Hogwarts just because of  Draco Malfoy. Then Professor Mcgonagall tells Harry that he can stay   and join the Gryffindor Quidditch team.

Harry Potter chapter 7

Chapter 7 Journal:

What does Harry dream about on his first night at Hogwarts? Examine the description of the dream on page 97 and summarize the most important parts of this dream. What do you think the dream means?

The most important parts of Harry's dream is that he was dreaming of wearing professor Quirrell's turban which kept talking and telling him that had to transfer to slytherin at once. then Harry told the turban that he didn't want to be in slytherin so it got heavier and heavier. I think the dream means that Harry's scar was lighting up again and making his pain come back so there was a flash of green light that came from Harry again and voldemeort was playing with Harry's mind.

The weasley that will be important to Harry is Ron Weasley because he goes to Hogwards with Harry potter and he is good friends with Harry.

Harry Potter chapter 5

 Chapter 5 Journal Question:

Harry encounters many strange people and places in Diagon Alley. Which of these characters did you find the most interesting? Why? Which store in Diagon Alley would you most like to visit? Explain your answer.

One of the most characters I found interesting is Dedalus Diggle because he met Harry potter at the Leaky Cauldron and he was surprised of meeting Harry again. the reason why Dedalus Diggle interested me from that chapter Diagon alley was because he seemed pretty nice to Harry and also seemed very strange to. The store I would like to visit in Diagon Alley is Gringotts which was the wizard bank but it would be cool to visit because its run by goblins and they sounds pretty neat and it would be cool to actually go to hogwards and go to the wizard bank and meet new nice friend people.

Harry Potter's Character Traits

In the first 4 chapters of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone we are intorduced to the character Harry Potter. Harry Potter has a strong personality and is annoyed and confused at times. I think Harry gets annoyed and confused when the Dursleys are mean and  always lying to Harry. Harry has magical powers which he does not realize. Harry is terrified when he found out from  Hagrid about his parents that they didnt, die accidently. Lastly, Harry learns from Hagrid that he is a wizard. This explains why there were alot
of strange things that happened to Harry like the scar on his forehead. Therefore, in the first 4 chapters we learn alot about Harry Potter.

Harry Potter chapter 3

Chapter 3: Journal Question

Uncle Vernon seems to be going crazy throughout chapter 3. Explain the reason for his madness and identify at least 3 examples from chapter 3 that demonstrate his strange behaviour?

The reason why Uncle Vernon is going crazy and is mad in chapter 3 is because Harry is recieving letters in which Uncle Vernon destroys prompting a veritable deluge of letters over the next few days.In chapter 3 Uncle Vernon is getting annoyed on how much Harry is recieving all these letters so Uncle Vernon attempts to outrun the delivery of letters and eventually takes his family to an abandoned hut on an island in the ocean. Three examples from chapter 3 is that they go to this railway hotel and they find out what room Harry is staying in which is room 17 and he still recieve's mail and Dudley gets his new school uniform and also his Uncle gets annoyed so he slams the mail box closed to stop Harry from recieving letters and mail and Harry's eleventh birthday comes and the Dursley's end up forgetting about it but in the end Harry remembers about it.

Harry Potter chapter 2

Chapter 2: Journal Question

How do you think Harry’s life would have been different if his parents were still alive? Consider the description of Harry’s life with the Dursleys in chapter 2 and identify how his life would be specifically changed if he had not been left on the doorstep of number 4 Privet Drive.

I think Harry's life would of been better if his parents were still alive because his parents would of treated him more better then the Drusley's did and plus he wouldn't get ignored or hurt. The description of Harry's life with the Dursley's is that they never treated Harry very well they always ignored him and never payed attention to him they always had their eyes on Dudley. In chapter 2 Dudley got spoiled on his birthday and got everything he wanted where Harry got nothing then when the Dursley's said to Harry that his room was small for him under the stairs he went to sleep in Dudley's old room which half of the stuff in there was broken. Harry's life would of been so much better if the Dursley's haven't of been treating harry very well and left him on the doorstep of number 4 privet drive. I think Harry should of got treated more nicely and more better and he got his personal space and freedom.

Harry Potter Journal 1

Chapter 1 Journal Question:

Who is Harry Potter and why is he so special? Why does Dumbledore, knowing that Harry won’t be welcomed or treated well, leave him with the Dursleys? Include information from Chapter 1 to support your answer.

In the first chapter Harry Potter find's out that he is a wizard and goes to Hogwarts school and a bunch of letters are sent to him. Harry is bewildered to discover how famous among all wizards and be called as "The boy who lived". He is so special because that he gets to go to Hogwart school and find out that he is magic because hes a young wizard. Knowing that harry wont be welcomed or treated well because dumbledore doesnt think that he wouldnt be ready for magic yet or be a real wizard so Harry Potter stays with the Dursleys and they show him and teach him how to be a real magical wizard so then in a month the dursleys show harry how to pass through the magical wall to catch the Hogwarts express at the kings cross railway station. Harry's friend Hagrid then bursts through the door to tell harry what the dursley's what they have been keeping from him finding out that harry is a wizard and is accepted at Hogwarts. Harry becomes addicted to the Mirror's visions and is rescued by Professor Dumbledore, who explains that it shows what the viewer most desperately longs for. In the end I think that Harry potter would be so ready to be a great magical wizard after he gets all his magical powers from Hogwarts school.

Harry Potter Anticipation

You should always support your friends.

I agree. I think that you should always support your friends when they get hurt or when they are being pressured against something. I know that I always support my friends and back them up when someone is being mean to them. I sometimes stand up for my friends and help out whenever they need it and I also try to be close to them when im not busy doing other things on my time thats why I think we should always support your friends.

What is a hero

One superhero and one real life hero to me is spiderman and my sister. One reason why I chose spiderman for my super hero is because he went out and saved the world. He also rescued people and kids from a fire in a building.   I chose my sister for a real life hero  because she is always there to help me out and talk to me when I need it. She  also stands up for me.  I chose spider man and my sister is because I like spider man and I also like both their clothes. The last reason why I chose my sister for my real life hero is because she is close  to me all the time and most of the time we hang out with each other at home.  At school she sometimes watches over me just to make sure I am okay.

Email to Ryan's dad

Dear Dad,

How are you, miss you lots. It has been too long since I  have seen you. School has been good so far, I am learning a lot and being part of school activities. I'm still playing baseball and my team is doing very well. We have won two games. I still remember all the memories we had when we played catch. One memory I remember was when you and me threw the ball back and forth to each other that would be the time I never forget. My life is going good. Jessica and I are getting along great and I am  helping  mom around the house. I have met some new friends at school that I'm getting along very well with and we hang out together at lunch time. I took part in the science club and did very well on my science project. The librarian let me use the Internet when I told her I was writing this email and I told her that you are in the National Guard overseas. Hope to hear and talk to you real soon.

love,
Ryan

Conflict in “Thank you M’am”

Conflict in “Thank you M’am”

In the short story “Thank you M’am there are several types of conflict. Firstly, Roger has a conflict with him self. Roger makes a choice to not steal a second time:” The boy took care to sit… away from the purse” (Hughes 150) Also, Roger has a problem with Mrs. Jones.  When Roger tried to steal her purse she “kicked him in his blue-jean sitter” (Hughes 146). Thirdly, Roger has a conflict with society. When Mrs. Jones says, “Ain’t you got anybody home? … “and he says “No’m “. (Hughes 147).
In conclusion there are three different types of conflict in the story “Thank you M’am”.

The Dark Ones

After reading the story the "Dark Ones" I realized it was a very sad short story. I feel that my awareness of animal rights includes that all animals should have the freedom to do what they want and go where they want in the water or on ground.  I don't think it was right for the seals or whales to get hurt or get killed because they are good sea animals that would live for a very long time in the water. I think the story has raised awareness of animals rights because I don't think the hunters should harm seals or whales.  I think they should just leave them be and not destroy their human nature. I think the hunters should not kill or harm the seals or whales because they are very good sea creatures that don't harm anyone else and or hurt other people.  Finally I think human nature and freedom should be  protected instead of getting destroyed, killed and hurt.
Animal Rights

This is a word wall of  words that describe me.

My start of grade 9

My start of grade 9 was so much fun because I took drama and french and geography.  I had 3a lunch which was good because I got to eat lunch with all my close friends. Drama was so much fun because we did so many different activities. Drama is so much fun and it is my favourite class of all. In drama we performed monologues and some acting and some other activities. My other classes  were pretty interesting and enjoyable because some of my friends were in them and I got to sit with them.   Drama and lunch were so much fun because  they were my favourite times of the day. Those were the days I'll never forget.  Being in grade 9 was kinda nice because I got to explore what it was like during my first year in high school. I was so excited to start a new year and meet lots of new friends.
