Harry Potter chapter 14

Chapter 14 Journal

Hagrid seems to be very attached to Norbert. Consider the description of Hagrid’s behaviour in Chapter 14 and explain what we can learn about Hagrid as a person through his relationship with his pet. Have you ever met anyone who is a “little crazy” over his/her pet?

Hagrid seemed to be attached too much because he is treating the dragon  as  though he is the dragons mommy. He helped it hatch and fed it even though it could burn his house down. No, I have never met anyone who is overly crazy about his or her pet.  Something we can learn from Hagrid as a person and his pet is that we know that some animals are dangerous and should not be pets. They could have some type of disease or might be dangerous in the house depending on what power they have. So we can learn from  Hagrid's mistake what kind of pet would be save to keep.

Harry Potter chapter 13

Chapter 13 Journal

Think about the power of the Philosopher’s Stone and how having one would affect your life. If you were immortal, what would life be like? If you owned an object that could turn metal into gold, how would your life be different? In your journal, identify at least 1 pro and 1 con of owning the Philospher’s Stone

I think having the power of the philosopher stone would be mainly a good thing. If I were immortal and lived forever I could have an awsomely amount of friends. If I owned a object that could turn to gold or money I would be able to survive and have money to live and travel anywhere in the world. I would be able to help people in poor countries and charities in need. One con of owning the philosopher stone would be  there would be people who would be desperate and asking for money and my life  would be in danger from people wanting to steal the philosopher stone.

Chapter Twelve: Summary Paragraph Writing Activity

The Main Idea is that Harry had the most awesome celebration and Christmas dinner in all his life. Firstly, the food was amazing. “A hundred fat, roast turkeys; mountains of roast and boiled potatoes; platters of chipolatas; tureens of buttered peas, silver boats of thick, rich gravy and cranberry sauce -- and stacks of wizard crackers every few feet along the table”.(149)  The dessert was fabulous flaming Christmas puddings with hidden money in the slices. In addition, Harry received the best presents ever. He received, “luminous balloons, a Grow-Your-Own-Warts kit, and his own new wizard chess set.”(150)  Also, Harry had never seen Professor Flitwick and Dumbledore joking around.  Hagrid and Professor McGonagall  having a blast with Hagrid kissing Professor McGonagall on the cheek. In conclusion, the Hogwarts Christmas was Harry’s most wonderful Christmas ever.

Harry Potter chapter 12 Journal

Chapter 12 Journal

If you looked into the Mirror of Erised, what would you see? In your blog, identify and describe your “deepest, most desperate desire.”

If I looked into the Mirror of Erised I would picture myself looking older and having more sibilings and also seeing myself at  collage. I would see myself wearing attractive hair and makeup.

Harry potter Chapter 9

Chapter 9 Journal Question:

Harry dislikes Draco Malfoy because he tricks Harry and he is mean and snobby to him.  Draco Malfoy is in Slytherin house so that house and Gryffindor practice potions and flying lessons together.  Draco Malfoy tricks Harry and tells him to fly on the broomstick when the teacher Madam Hooch tells the rest of the class to stay put.  while she takes Neville to the Hospital.  Harry ends up getting in trouble from Professor McGonagall and tells Harry that he is almost expelled from Hogwarts just because of  Draco Malfoy. Harry Potter chapter 7

Chapter 7 Journal:

What does Harry dream about on his first night at Hogwarts? Examine the description of the dream on page 97 and summarize the most important parts of this dream. What do you think the dream means?

The most important parts of Harry's dream is that he was dreaming of wearing professor Quirrell's turban which kept talking and telling him that had to transfer to slytherin at once. then Harry told the turban that he didn't want to be in slytherin so it got heavier and heavier. I think the dream means that Harry's scar was lighting up again and making his pain come back so there was a flash of green light that came from Harry again and voldemeort was playing with Harry's mind.

Harry Potter chapter 5

 Chapter 5 Journal Question:

Harry encounters many strange people and places in Diagon Alley. Which of these characters did you find the most interesting? Why? Which store in Diagon Alley would you most like to visit? Explain your answer.

One of the most characters I found interesting is Dedalus Diggle because he met Harry potter at the Leaky Cauldron and he was surprised of meeting Harry again. the reason why Dedalus Diggle interested me from that chapter Diagon alley was because he seemed pretty nice to Harry and also seemed very strange to. The store I would like to visit in Diagon Alley is Gringotts which was the wizard bank but it would be cool to visit because its run by goblins and they sounds pretty neat and it would be cool to actually go to hogwards and go to the wizard bank and meet new nice friend people.

Harry Potter's Character Traits

In the first 4 chapters of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone we are intorduced to the character Harry Potter. Harry Potter has a strong personality and is annoyed and confused at times. I think Harry gets annoyed and confused when the Dursleys are mean and  always lying to Harry. Harry has magical powers which he does not realize. Harry is terrified when he found out from  Hagrid about his parents that they didnt, die accidently. Lastly, Harry learns from Hagrid that he is a wizard. This explains why there were alot
of strange things that happened to Harry like the scar on his forehead. Therefore, in the first 4 chapters we learn alot about Harry Potter.
